Cary Gray Elected to Baylor University Board of Regents

Baylor University announced it had confirmed Cary Gray, President and Managing Director of Gray Reed & McGraw, as the newest member of its Board of Regents.  Gray will serve a three-year term that begins tomorrow, June 1st.

A commercial litigator who has secured favorable verdicts and judgments in the United States and throughout the world, Gray's practice covers a wide range of commercial litigation cases, including:  breach of fiduciary duty, collections, deceptive trade practices, defamation, employment discrimination, fraud, fraudulent transfer, negligence, professional (accounting and legal) malpractice, real estate titles, shareholder oppression and shareholder derivative actions, wrongful death and enforcement of contracts.

Gray received his Bachelor of Arts (1979), Bachelor of Accounting (1980) and his Juris Doctorate (1983) from Baylor University.  In the fall of 2010, he was named Baylor's Alumnus of the Year.

Baylor University in Waco, Texas, is a private university and a nationally-ranked liberal arts institution. Chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas, Baylor is the oldest, continually operating university in the state. Though 80 percent of Baylor's students come from within Texas, their student body encompasses individuals from 48 states and 86 countries.

The Board of Regents is the official governing body of Baylor University. Regents are selected by election, with 75% of the membership elected by the Regents themselves and 25% elected by the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Regents serve a three-year term, and may serve up to three terms consecutively before they must rotate off the Board for at least one year.
