New Blog Focuses on Texas Employment Law

Gray Reed & McGraw is pleased to announce the addition of Texas Employer Handbook (http://www.texasemployerhandbook.com) to its blogging network. Michael Kelsheimer, a Shareholder with Gray Reed & McGraw, started the blog to offer business owners a quick reference guide to Texas employment law issues.

"TexasEmployerHandbook.com serves the needs of almost every business owner and human resources manager," said Kelsheimer. "It provides information on the everyday employment issues in plain-spoken, easy to understand, language.  The articles are concise and to the point.  While they do not cover every aspect of each issue, I hope they cause business owners to be able to spot potential trouble spots for further investigation."

The blog is broken into three sections: Employee Handbook (101 articles on various areas of employment law), In the News (Kelsheimer's perspective on the latest employment issues in the news), and Quick Questions (common questions that everyone has on employment issues).  Some recent blog headlines include:

  • Covenants Not to Compete 101
  • Proof: Following Employment Laws is Important!
  • VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011
  • Can I Dock Employees for Inclement Weather Days?
  • Trade Secrets and Confidentiality 101
  • Age Before Beauty . . . The Pervasive Problem of Age Discrimination
  • Job Descriptions - Who Needs Them?
  • "Ugly" Ain't a Protected Class

Kelsheimer focuses his practice on the employment law needs of Texas businesses and executive employees. He recognizes that the cost and expense of litigation make resolving employment disputes challenging. To help avoid these concerns, he utilizes his experience in and out of the courtroom to prevent or quickly resolve employment disputes through proactive employer planning and timely advice. When a dispute cannot be avoided, Kelsheimer relies upon his prior experience as a briefing attorney for the United States District Court and his extensive experience in employment and commercial lawsuits to secure favorable resolutions for his clients. Kelsheimer has experience in a wide variety of employment and commercial matters including cases involving race and sex discrimination, fair labor standards, covenants not to compete, deceptive trade, fraud, negligence, and enforcement of contracts in state and federal courts as well as through binding arbitration.
